Katheryn Petersen (aka Salmon Avalanche) is a multi-media artist, event producer, musician, composer, poet, event producer, yogi, and video artist. Her pursuits bear the through-line of a fascination with tension between the surreal beauty and savage nature of life. Each of her disciplines informs the other and as such you will find a deep connection to music in her yoga practice, yoga moves informing her writing, video images sneaking up in her music and a lot of general scribbling outside the lines in the process of her art. However, as much as she believes in playfulness, Katheryn understands the importance of a sober focus and her message is infused with a commitment to rise above the obstacles of life. She draws her inspiration from many sources including great writers and film-makers, yogic training and physical science, harmonic theory and quantum physics, great music and dance, and ultimately the wisdom and mystery of the natural world.
