Before Katheryn started to play accordion in 2004 she was very involved in the spoken word scene of Vancouver. She was a regular finalist at the Vancouver Slams and performed her poetry and stories at a wide range of events from the VPL to the Penthouse and all the way in between. She was published by a handful of local presses including Ten Dollar Words, Quills and Geist and has had her work featured on the North by Northwest on the CBC and at Radio 3.
The accordion took over as her main artistic focus and since then her writing has taken the form of song lyrics and musical story narratives.
Here are a handful of her pieces.
